We do the digging. You get a defensible pack.

Most of the work is automated. Connect once, and Aven turns months of scattered engineering history into a structured evidence pack - without ever touching your source code or filing on your behalf.

Five steps, mostly automated

01

Connect, read-only

Link GitHub in read-only mode (GitLab, Jira and Linear are planned next). Aven ingests commit messages, PR and ticket text and metadata - redacted at ingestion. Your source code is never stored.

02

Assemble the evidence trail

We cluster your engineering history into candidate R&D projects and draft each narrative - field of technology, baseline, advance, uncertainty, approach - with every claim wired back to the commit, PR or ticket that proves it.

03

Model the qualifying cost

We build a conservative qualifying-expenditure model across the categories HMRC recognises - staff, externally-provided workers and subcontractors (restricted), consumables, software, and data & cloud - apportioned to R&D.

04

Choose Draft or Reviewed

Draft gives your accountant an organised pack. Reviewed adds a competent-professional review, clearer explanations and weak-area flags before delivery.

05

Hand-off - not filing

You receive a technical report, adviser workbook, normalized data exports, methodology and checksum manifest. Your accountant or R&D tax firm independently reviews them, submits the AIF and handles the company tax return, scheme, liability and final amount.

The delivery gate

No pack reaches you without Aven approval. Reviewed adds expert sign-off.

Automation drafts; a person controls delivery. Draft is for teams whose accountant will review the output. Reviewed adds the R&D expert layer: narrative improvement, evidence checks and weak-area flags before you send it on.

What you receive

A structured bundle aligned to HMRC’s Additional Information Form - company & period header, candidate projects with linked evidence, a qualifying-expenditure model, and the scheme-determining data your firm needs. Reviewed packages add reviewer notes and weak-area flags. See what’s in the pack

What Aven does - and doesn’t

Aven assembles R&D evidence packs for accountant review; Aven Reviewed adds expert review. Aven does not file with HMRC, determine your liability, select your scheme (merged vs ERIS), sequence loss relief, or guarantee any amount - those are your accountant or R&D tax firm's responsibility. Figures are indicative and conservative. Nothing here is tax advice. UK only.
